About Us
Stepherson’s, Inc. is a family owned and operated business founded by the Stepherson brothers (Jack, Wesley, and Kenneth) in 1944. We have served the Memphis community continuously since our founding seeking to bring forth the highest levels of quality, service, and selection at the lowest prices possible. The company has grown from a single location, through success and failure to our current form. We operate three Superlo Foods locations and one Stepherson’s location, all in the City of Memphis.
We have served the East Memphis area since 1948 when we bought our first location in the White Station area. Since then we have occupied locations at Poplar-Perkins,and Poplar-Colonial. We built our current location at 4744 Spottswood near Colonial in 1981. In late 2006 we completed a 2.5 million dollar expansion to upgrade and update the Spottswood location and prepare us for the next 25 years.
We have been in the Macon Road and Graham Street area since 1950 when our first location was built. Our current location at 3942 Macon Road was built in 1960. We have grown and changed with the neighborhood over the years and look forward to continuing to serve the neighborhood for many years to come.
We began the expansion of our Superlo Foods concept in 2000 when we purchased the former Mega Market location on Covington Pike and reopened as Superlo Foods #2. In 2005, we completed a major décor renovation to this location. In addition to our full selection of national and private label brands, we have been able to increase our Latino brand offerings in the grocery, produce, meat, deli, frozen, and dairy departments. The company’s main offices are located at this store.
Our most recent expansion was to North Memphis in 2002 when we purchased a former Piggly Wiggly location at 3327 North Watkins. We reopened this location as Superlo Foods #3. We look forward to continuing to grow and serve the Frayser community.
Stepherson’s, Inc. is focused on continuing our efforts to serve the public through great selection, quality products, and prices you can raise a family on.
