MacRostie Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, 2008

Chardonnay is both a grape and a town in France near which it was probably first grown. The name is derived from a Latin term meaning place of thistles. Steve MacRostie, long known as a producer of great Chardonnay, can also trace his origin to a place of thistles - the thistle being the national flower of Scotland, his ancestral home. All MacRostie wines share a long, proud tradition of rugged individualism, but unlike the thistle, they are soft, luscious, and full of rich, ripe flavors. - Kevin W. Holt, winemaker. Steven MacRostie, owner. Alc 14.1% by vol. Produced and bottled by MacRostie Winery, Sonoma, CA.
